The course is an introduction to the history of modern architecture between 1750 and 1900. It will explore the relationship between historical developments in architecture and wider changes in social, technological and aesthetic realms. History of architecture will use precedent as a means to making buildings. Students will develop visual literacy in the forms and trends of modern architecture of the period in question. Deeper analysis of the buildings within historical, social, cultural, political and technological contexts will be applied.
